12) I am going to use this photograph on my DPS in the bottom left hand side. I have decided to edit the areas of the photograph where it isn't actually the keyboard to make the keys stand out even more.

11) I am going to use this photograph on my DPS. It is a close up of the microphone I think it is very effective the way the light reflects off the microphone. I am going to blend the background to blend in with the DPS.

10) I decided not to use this picture as it is very similar to the above image (picture 9). I thought the picture above was better so I choose to use that one.

9) I decided to use this photograph of the lead signer as I am trying to use all the band members on DPS. I am going to use this photograph on my DPS in the bottom middle. I am going to edit the background so it blends in with the DPS background.

I am going to use this picture of the guitar being player. I am going to edit the background. I have tried to edit the background so that in blends in with the background of the DPS. I have tried to include all the band members and their instruments so they are equally used in the DPS.

6) I decided not to use this picture on my DPS as I am using another close up picture of the keyboard (picture 12) but I have decided to use this picture on my contents page.

5) I am going to use this picture on contents page to make the audience want to read the article. I am going to also use this picture on my DPS. I think it is a nice picture of two of the band members 'messing around'. It shows their fans their personality and there audience can relate more to normal shots rather then staged ones.

4) I decided not to use his picture as none of the band was looking at the camera and I also feel that there is a lot of free space at the top of the page and at the bottom it is very crowed.

I have decided to use this picture on my DPS in the bottom right corner because it a nice picture that has the whole band in it in the studio mentioned in the article.

2) I am going to use this picture on my content page. The issue is a special 'Brigg Kidz' special with an exclusive interview with them so I am going to try and use as many pictures as possible to try and make the magazine stand out to the fans and make them want to buy it.

Picture One

1) I decided to use this picture on my front cover, content page and DPS (double page spread). I really think this picture I effective and by using it on all three things then it creates a 'link' between the front page and the DPS. I think it is a natural shot of the band. It shows the audience how human and normal the band is. On this I would have to edit the background to get rid of the of the grey box.

Evaluation Of My Questionnaire

From my questionnaire i have found that most people i asked were aged 16 to 25 years old, and they were mainly females so i have decided that i am going to aim my music magazine at this target market. I found that most of the people asked brought a magazine because of it's appearance and the features that are in it so therefore i need to make the appearance and the features of the magazine stand out to my target audience. Most of the people asked said they didn't buy music magazines but the people asked who did said they brought either 'Kerrang' or 'NME'. Also most people i asked who did buy magazines said they only brought them a few times a year. I asked what colours stand out to people and they would like to see on a magazine, i found that the most common colours where bold colours like black, red and purple so i am going to try and use these colours in my magazine to make it appeal to my target audience. I found that the main types of music that the people asked liked were; R&B, 'Pop' and 'Rock' music so i am going to try and include these types in my magazine so that the features stand out to my target audience. My target audience also said that the price they would be willing to pay for a monthly magazine is 2-3.99 so i have decided to average it out and i am going to sell my magazine at £2.99 because it is just short of £3 and people are more likely to buy the magazine because £2.99 looks like less money then £3.

Analysis of the front cover of 'NME' magazine 29th march 2008.

The NME Magazine (New Musical Express) is a popular music magazine in the UK. It was first published in 1952. It was one of the first magazine in the UK to include the singles chart in it. It's 'heyday' was in the 70's where it became the best selling British music magazine. It is a weekly magazine and it is owned by the company IPC Media (Time Inc.)

There are two people on the front cover; Alex turner and Miles Kane. It is a medium shot of the males, they are both looking into the camera and both look very similar they are both wearing black and it matches there eyes and hair. There is a white background which makes the two males on the front stand out even more. They are standing 'back to back' so it is almost like a mirror effect. they are to the bottom right of the page.

The main feature of the article is the 'First major interview as THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS' this a USP (unique selling point) for that issue because it's the first major interview and this could attract their fans to buy the magazine even if they normally don't normally buy that magazine. All the other features of the magazine are in Red capitals with a little line underneath in lower case black that matches the logo and the feel of the magazine. The Magazine's appearance makes it look like it is aimed more at males then females because of the colours used and the way is set out.

The NME logo draws your attention to the top left hand corner, the logo is very basic and is the initials of the name of the magazine. The same colours are always used for the logo and it is very recognizable to anyone who sees it.

The school system had a virus on it so it has been impossible for me to access the blog to update it.

Analysis of Front Cover blender magazine July 2008

Blender magazine is an American Music Magazine. It classed itself as " the ultimate guide to music and more". The magazine started in 1994 and the publisher was Dennis Publishing. The owner of Blender Magazine was Alpha Media Group and they closed blender magazine on March 26Th 2009.

The image on the front cover is of Leona Lewis, it a medium shot. this shot is used because it makes her fit just in the middle of the magazine and it makes her the main focus of the front cover. The image overlaps the top of the title which makes her look like she is important. She is wearing a black and sliver stylish top which stands out well and compliments the white of the background. The Magazine is targeted at the teenage age group and by having her on the front it may make teenagers buy it as she looks stylish and younger girls my look up to her and what she wears.

The heading is in bright yellow which is very eye catching as it stands off the page and it complements the black and white. There are only three main colours on the front cover. The headline is in capital letter which makes it look important, also it looks like the title has been cut with a sharp object as it looks like there is a cut through the heading. On the 'B' of BLENDER the word is blender is wrote on it's side in white, so even thought the whole title can't be seen because of the image over lapping it the name is still there.

The features of the magazine are written on the front cover to fit around the image of Leona Lewis. Some of the words in the features are in bold because they are the main features of the articles. The black font has been used to match the black of Leona's outfit and the yellow has been used to match the title. The words 'Leona Lewis' stand out the most out of all the feature because she is on the front cover.

Analysis of the front cover of 'Q' magazine May 2008.

Q magazine is a music magazine published in the UK monthly. The founders of the magazine were mark Ellen and David Hepworth. The magazine was first published in 1986.

The Q magazine logo is located in the top left hand corner of the front cover. It is bright red with a white 'Q'. It really stands out and the same colours and the location of the logo is the same every issue so it creates a brand image and familiarity of the magazine to readers.

The main focus of the magazine cover is Madonna. The word 'Madonna' is in bold bright red lettering and is two thirds down the page. The lettering is the same colour as the logo and therefore matches it. There is also a picture of Madonna in the centre of the page. They could have used the image of Madonna because she is famous and her fans could buy the magazine because she is on the front cover. She is wearing black clothes that blend in with the background that draws attention to her face as that part is the lightest part of the front cover.

The features of the magazine are written in white and therefore stand off the black really well. One of the main features in the magazine is a 70 page special of women in music, which could stand out to the target audience as a representation of women is being used and could attract males and females to read this feature for different reasons for example females may read it to copy fashion and look up to the women and males could read the article because they may be attracted to the women in them. Another feature of the magazine is the issue is a bumper issue of 196 pages so this could make the audience think they are getting more for there money because they are getting more pages to read. Also 'big names' are featured on the front cover so this could persuade more people to buy the magazine as more names are used so it could appeal to a bigger range of people.

Analysis An Coldplay article in the magazine 'Q' march 2009

The article is a review on Coldplay written by Johnny Davis. It spans three pages of the magazine Q and includes interviews with the band members. it focuses on then performance's of Coldplay at Manchester Evening News Arena, Manchester on Thursday, 11th December 2008.

The Title; 'Coldplay' was located in the top left hand corner of the two page spread. it is simple and doesn't stand out very much.

The photograph is long shot of the main singer of the band taken from behind. It has been taken from ground level and is showing the crowd looking at the band performing which is important as the reader can see the faces of the fans watching and it also shows the wide age group which this band appeals to. This is an action shot also which is important because it shows what's happening and the reaction of the audience. There is a spotlight that contrasts with the lead singer and most of the remainder of the photograph is in black. The picture is a full A4 page and is the main focus of the two page spread. There are also a quote from one of the bad members, Chris Martin; "Deep Down you know your band will never be as good as Oasis. Maybe we could come second?"

At the beginning of the the first and the last paragraph on the first page the first letter of the first words are in bold and in a big font and therefore they stand out off the page it is done to make the article stand out and to make the audience read the article because the first letter stands out so it makes your eye draw to the first word. The Language used in the article is 'adult language' and The language used is informal as they use swear words this is done because the reader's are fan of Coldplay and by writing like this the audience feel like the band is like them and they can relate to the band.

My Prelimary Task - Front Cover Of College Magazine

This is my final idea for a college magazine front cover. I did a photo shot, and this the image i decided to use of my friend Jenny. It is a medium shot of her, i used the rules of composition and i took the shot with her slightly to the right of the shot so that i could fit my heading and features around her. I decided to use a background rather than a studio as it is a college magazine so i thought it was appropriate to include a background so that the target audience can relate to the image and the surroundings.

I named the magazine B.S.F MAG as it's target audience are students at Brigg Sixth Form so i used the initials of our college then i shortened the word Magazine to Mag so it was three letters as the initials plus by making the word shorter i thought it would stand out to the target audience more because modern day teenagers like to shorten and change word because of the new generation of 'text' language.

I then decided on my two main colours for my magazine; i decided black because it's bold and stands out most over an image then i decided light purple and one my Image Jenny wore purple so it links the image to the lettering. I made the name of my Magazine into a logo and coloured 'B.S.F' in black and 'MAG' in purple, then the slogan of the magazine ' THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO COLLEGE' I wrote under the title and i used the same colour scheme but this time i did it the opposite way around so that it stood out more and the black and purple were together and complimented each other.

For My features i wrote them Down the Side of my image and the words i wanted to stand out the most i wrote in capitals and in purple and the other words i wrote in lower case and in black so they stood out but not as much. Then finally i added the Issue number under the slogan and added a bar code to the bottom right corner to make it look more effective and like a magazine.

I haven't got the the basic skills yet for photoshop so i found this task very difficult to do and there for it is not finished to a standard i would like.

Here is my contents page i would add more features than that and also i would have an image of the front page on it to refer too.

Second Mock Up For College Magazine

Second mock up for college magazine. I firstly decided that i would have a coloured bar across the top to have the magazine slogan in so it stood out.
I decided that the name of the magazine would go at a slant and the main feature of the magazine would go at the same angle. The other features of the magazine would go alone the bottom of the page.
The picture would fill the whole page but i would take the picture so the main focus of the shot was to the right of the page so i could fit my features and title around it. I would then put the Bar code in the bottom right corner.

College Magazine - Mock up Design

Here Is My First Mock Up Of A College Magazine. I firstly decided that the name of the magazine would go at the top and to a slant i thought one side of the title could be bigger than the other to create the effect that one side is nearer than the other. I thought it would make my magazine look different and stand out on the shelf.
I then decided that i would have a picture in the centre with the main focus of the image in the middle of the page. Then i would have my towards the bottom of the page i would put the at different slants to keep in keeping with the title. i would then put the bar code on the right hand side under the title.

Research Into Front Cover Designs and Content Pages for my College Magazine.

Here I have decided to look at Existing products. Above is a contents page from the Magazine; 'First Car'. The Content page is a single page, it has the title 'Contents' in the top left hand side of the page it is written in a font that is continued throughout the whole content page for the subheading. Below the title there is five pictures of different articles from the magazine. Four of the pictures are equal in size and the other is much bigger as it is the main feature of the magazine and it is also the same story as on the front cover. On each picture there is a number, which is the page respectfully the article or feature is on and under the picture there is a little subheading and a little summary of the article.
Then alone the right side there is a long white rectangle and it has different heading in it of different topics in the magazine and these heading are in different coloured boxes, and below them are the different page numbers and articles to go with each particular topic.
The in the bottom right corner there us a section called 'Meet The Team' and it has 4 little pictures and the names of the editors and writers of the magazine. The main colour scheme for the content page is black and white as they complimentary colours.



The above image is of the front cover of the magazine 'First Car' the title of the magazine is located in the top left hand corner of the page, the lettering is white which stands out off the darkness of the background of the picture.
The picture is of the main features of the magazine an interview with the cast of a popular TV show called 'The Inbetweeners' they are the main focus point of the magazine. The main feature title 'The Inbetweeners Interview inside' is coloured in two different colour ways, the words "The" "interview inside" are in black and white which matches the logo of the magazine in the top left hand corner, the word "Inbetweener" is written in black and yellow to make that word stand out the most as it is the name of the TV programme. The black and yellow matches the other written of the features on the front cover.

Along the bottom of the magazine is three pictures of other features in the magazine and under the photographs is the title of the feature and a little bit about it.

Across the top of the page there is a white bar with black writing with other features in the magazine on, this is effective and really stands out it almost frames the top of the page.
